I am thirty years old and I play video games. This is a statement that I find myself very reluctant to profess throughout the course of my day in the white collar world. As a matter of fact, my nethyr friends are the only ones that seem to share my enthusiasm for them. Unfortunately, I feel very left out as most of you are racists. Not against people but against platforms(with the exception of poob). Frankly, I don't get it. My XBOX 360 can process massive amounts of data just as well as any PC. It also allows me to connect and commune with a bunch of dbags online and also verbally abuse many of the 12 year old children who frequent xbox live. Why are PCs and PC games considered superior than platform games? I think when I asked Pete this last time he explained that one of the reasons was that you can control your character better with a few touches of the keyboard than you can with the controller and that you have more options available to you. That may be somewhat true but I feel it requires more skill to manuever your character in a FPS than to hit control. alt, delete and score a cheap headshot on someone in a game like counter strike. Feel free to give your thoughts and if you are on live my id is VADER76. BTW I am going to keep thinking of things to post until I get at least two purple stars.

I don't really think that the PC is a superior platform for games anymore, with the exception of strategy games. I would go nuts trying to play a game like Rome: Total War with a game pad. However, if you optimize your computer for gaming, which can be very expensive, a pc can definitely outperform a console across the board; however, for 400 bucks, a 360 does the job just fine.
Racist against consoles? Currently I'm in favor of the 360, the PS3 had a crappy batch of launch titles and lacks the support of game producers. The Wii is cute and fun, it has all the potential to carry nintendo through another console war, but it won't win it.
The advantage to a PC is versatility, the drawback is the price tag for that versatility.

Writing off the wii is a mistake. Sure pretty graphics are awesome and whatever, but just because one machine can proces prettier megahertzes doesnt mean it will be the victor. That determination is made by the number of people interested in your machine that actually go out and make a purchase. Sure the xbox has a headstart, but guess what, old fogeys in retirement homes AREN'T playing with xboxes. The Wii has opened up video gaming to demographics that up until this point were practically untouchable. The Wii has the potential to be the gaming platform for everybody, not just the usual gaming niche. So we know the Wii has the appeal and will draw in people not usually ociated with video gaming. The next thing is the games. This is a point we arent sure of yet. It remains to be seen if Nintendo will release a quality gaming library that will cement the wii as the console to be owned. They have developer support though. People WANT to design games for this system. Time will tell if any of them are worth a damn, but frankly, people are sitting around getting so into BOWLING that they are breaking their ...over bowling. Yeah. Finally, on a purely financial level, Microsoft and Sony both LOSE money per each console unit sold. As time goes on and the systems get cheaper to make they might start eeking out a minor profit, but that wont occur for a year or two. The Wii has sold for a profit from day 1. I dont really feel like debating the point. Theres no need to come back and tell me how wrong I am since im not actually saying the Wii will be the winner. Im just saying the possibility is there and its not really a longshot. I have no idea what time will bring and I dont even own a Wii or plan to own one anytime in the near future. Frankly I would probably pick up an xbox 360 given the option (and hopefully it wouldnt die since many units seem to have a problem with not working after a few months), but thats only becuase there are no must have games for the wii out yet that are calling to me. Still, dont be an xbox fanboy. 360 is a fantastic console, but to write off the Wii just because its a little too cutsey for you is shortsighted. Not everything needs to be super extreme neo awesome. To the Max.

I definately have to give nintendo props for making some pretty damn fun games. Marios Tennis' fun level has not diminished in my eyes at all. I kind of wavered away from nintendo because of the genres that I prefer...FPS and RPG's. For those games I like blood, gore and violence and traditionally I have always felt like nintendo shies away from adult themed or mature games. I felt that microsoft embraced it and that is why I chose the 3600.
To the 360 brekdown point, several of my friends have had problems and had to send their consoles in for repair. I haven't had the problem yet but I know it is only a matter of time and playing oblivion non stop doesnt help my chances. However, it has held strong for over a year now(knock on wood)
