Itty bitty teensy weensy baby spoiler ahead. Just a brief description of one of the characters within, as well as who's playing him in the movie: So for those who haven't read the books, there's an awfully interesting character who makes an appearance in "Prince Caspian" (the upcoming movie) in the form of an oversized talking mouse. The persona of this character however is an honorable, valorous yet murderous mix that made him one of my favorite characters in the series. The good news? Apparently he's being voiced by Eddie Izzard. I've got infinite faith in his ability to expose every subtlety of this role and can't wait to see it. www.narniaweb.com/news.asp?id=1368&dl=14617080" I realized that he has always been recorded in a high, slightly camp voice because of the overt language that he uses and his chivalrous nature, but actually he is a murderous little so-and-so of a mouse. I see him as the Mad Max of mice."

Josh, I can understand hating on the first movie cause I thought it was pretty gay too, but dude, theres a friggen Dungeon Siege movie directed by Uwe Boll and that pretty much negates your argument about the first movie being the worst in the genre.

1. No blood. Nothing takes the joy out of a sword fight as quickly as the absence of the color red. 2. Bad acting, while all of the supporting characters were played by great actors, that only served to highlight the utter lack of ability of the leads; I thought all british children were supposed to be shakespearian geniuses. 3. Talking Lion. The movie was a total rip off of the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.
For real, it was better as a BBC drama.

They were targeting it towards children and this isn't the same time / world that Lewis wrote it in. Even though there were cold blooded murders, animals getting visibly impaled on blades, and faces getting eaten off by incarnated deities, the actual red time on screen was low. 2. Aww come on. You can't say that Lucy, the main character put in a bad showing there. The rest of the Pevinsies may have left something to be desired but Lucy kicked butt, and she was flanked by Jadis, who I think nailed the role pretty well, and I hope we're not going to target Liam Neeson as a bad actor. 3. Joke, right?

Calling it worst in the genre was hyperbole unless by genre I meant multi million dollar epic fantasy, but really the feeling that best sums up my feelings is disappointment.
I've got a problem with narnia. I read narnia when I was little kid, eight or nine maybe, and I fucking loved it. I didn't really know the New Testament at the time, so all the stories were also very new to me. I can credit Narnia with being my introduction to the swords and sorcery genre. I loved the story and always wanted to see it as a movie.
Seeing the movie, however, was like visiting a carnival sideshow outside the Lord of the Rings circus. There was no sense of scope throughout the movie, it felt as if the entire thing WAS actually taking place inside a closet. The fight scenes weren't big epic battles, but small skirmishes, the world felt claustrophobic and unpopulated, the 'sets' looked like something from a stageplay. I was constantly underwhelmed, so the accomplishments of the characters and the struggles felt unsatisfying and empty.
Yeah, maybe they're finding their footing or something, but compare the Wardrobe to the Sorcerers Stone or the Fellowship, and the lack of excellence becomes painfully apparent.

Me neither. I wonder how many kids later went on to chewing tobacco after pretending with BLC. I havent tried it in maybe 20 years and I bet todays version sucks.
