I will restate what I prevously mentioned earlier in this thread, if you want to take responsibility for organizing an event don't use the computer as your main contact source and then complain about responses, use the phone. It is much more efficient. *no sarcasm* (presently thinking of a symbol to identify that)

We have a new long term event that will be taking place for Dan's 30th birthday... Group Trip to Vegas... Amy is working on details.... all we can say so far is that it will be in august of 2006... So start saving money for a trip to America's Playground

I would really like to get a handle on what if anything we are doing for gifts and partying... Tom and Marty both offered their places... If i see no posts in the near future i will make the much needed phone calls and post... however... That still doesnt handle gift giving... if were gonna go with names in a hat we need to expediate the whole thing...

Why are we not using the system that worked for the last few years again?

Possible that some people might feel like a change? I personally dont care, Ill do secret santa, the stealing thing, whatever. If forced to pick only one, Id vote secret santa, but thats just a preference. Again, Im fine with either.
Frank, dont bother waiting for other posts. If weve learned anything recently, its that trying to do actual planning using only this site is impossible. Its fine for announcing that things are happening, but if you need to do details, you gotta do it in reality.

For what its worth, my humble vote is for anything but specific presents for specific pre-known people. Dirty santa worked for me.

Why can't Santa be both Secret and Dirty, you know, like the old Mall Santa that they arrested?

well frank - i personally agree with the allmighty paco. the dirty santa was fun, but it allways felt somewhat anti climatic when actuially doing it. so we now have 3 votes for a secret (maby not so) santa, vs the one for the dirty sanchez santa.
now the location is also in the air. personally, me and the misses are fine with either house (would be nice to finally see martykim's house). As that we all have to drive nomatter what, and i never see anyone really drink (except for karen & corinne) the drive is not that big a deal. But i am only one little clay voice in fairytale land, and will gladly appreciate any outcome and the subsequent gracius hosting. (whoah, big werds hert my noggin)
