Yes I know it's been talked about for a while, but i'm making my call now. The Google Andriod mobile operating system, as first released on T-Mobile's G1 hardware will create very little buzz among consumers. However my call is that this operating system is a lit firework and there's three reasons for this: 1) The operating system isn't impressing anyone yet. It's like having Windows that can only run Office and no other programs. However the software is completely open source in every respect, meaning that geeks are already writing software for this. Give it a little bit and it'll have 10 times the software quantity and quality of the iPhone. 2) The G1 T-Mobile hardware is pretty crappy, but it's first generation. It was expected to be crap. The first generation iPhone was pretty crappy compared to the second, and that had Apple's sincerely awesome design team behind it. The hardware will evolve and fast. 3) While it's on the T-Mobile network on HTC hardware now, the Android OS is designed to be run on any hardware by any provider. Motorola has already stated that they're working on new hardware to run the Android OS. My call is this: By the end of 2009, hardware on multiple mobile phone providers running the Android OS will be competing directly and successfully with the iPhone, or whatever Apple is slinging at the time. You heard it here first.

Yes I know it's been talked about for a while, but i'm making my call now. The Flying Car, as first released sometime in the future will create very little buzz among consumers. However my call is that this flying car is a lit firework and there's three reasons for this: 1) The flying car isn't impressing anyone yet. It's like having a regular car that can only run on a road and no other terrains. However the flying car is completely all terrain in every respect, meaning that hotshot test pilots are already dreaming about buzzing the tower with them. Give it a little bit and it'll have 10 times the awesome flying ability of jetBlue Airlines. 2) The flying car hardware is pretty crappy, but it's first generation. It was expected to be crap. The first generation Apollo capsule was pretty crappy compared to the Shuttle, and that had NASA's sincerely awesome design team behind it. The hardware will evolve and fast. 3) While it's under the jurisdiction of the FAA and US government now, the flying car is designed to be run in any sky by any hotshot test pilot. LaBiche Aerospace has already stated that they're working on new hardware to run the flying car. My call is this: By the end of 2029, flying cars on multiple terrains and jurisdictions will be competing directly and successfully with jetBlue Airlines, or whatever commercial air travel provider is slinging at the time. You heard it here first.

Okay, there aren't any reasons, but I'll never pass on an opportunity for a shameless plug!!

I thought this was the thread where we all make wild guesses as to what the future holds regarding some random product, and if our guesses come true we can look back at this thread as proof that we kick or something. Im totally on topic!!

It really wasn't a "Look what I said a year ago" thread. I thought people might have an opinion on a pretty genre-breaking move in the mobile-device market, by one of today's visionaries of modern technology's methods and application.
