7/13, actually 7-1-3 were the winning Daily Numbers (midday drawing) for the NY Lotto. We are not retiring yet, but a payout of $560 on a $2 bet will buy a decent amount of diapers. Imagine the poor kid growing up thinking he's only worth $2.

Yes tom, the site is totally borking my firefox. What type of pictures are they? If they arent jpegs, converting them might help alot.
Also, heres a trick I learned to make huge picture files smaller. Basically, open the file in a picture viewer and hit "Print Screen". Open photoshop or whatever image editing program you use and hit paste. Crop out everything that is not the image, save it as a jpeg, and viola. If you dont have photoshop, theres a nice little program called "Irfanview" which is a free download and works pretty well.

Those images are waaaay too big in terms of number of pixels, not compression. 72 or 100 pixels per inch is usually screen resolution, so if you're posting a picture that you want to show as 5" wide, and it's more than 5x100=500 pixels wide, it's bigger than it needs to be. Your first photo is 2592x1944 pixels, and you're showing it at 300x225, so it's about sixty times the size it needs to be. That's big!
I suggest going to Flickr.com, getting a free account, and uploading all your photos full-sized. They'll give you links to a variety of sizes that you can use on your own site... or just use Flickr as your site. I'd say it's a reasonably good bet that Flickr photos will be a permanent archive, so little Tommy will probably be able to show his grandkids those photos long after you stop paying for the laganfamily site and domain name.
As a rule, if it's much more than 100kb, your picture is bigger than it needs to be, with much more visual info than anyone can see on their screen. Screens may one day improve, but probably not too much more, since eyes can't resolve dots les than 0.2mm apart anyway (poor design, really, limited by the spacing of rods and cones)... still I like that Flickr keeps the full-sized photos for you, since it means you can still print them from the Flickr version if you ever want to.

thanks for the input...i have checked out flickr but I think I am going to use my site until it runs out...I wanted to take big resolution pics so when I print them they will look the best. how can I shrink the photo's pixils and still maintain quality lookinh photos that load faster

to resize photos witout pixelation you can either go into photoshop and resize your canvas... then use the "transformation" tool to change the image contents... then re-crop, re-save, re-upload...
or use Flickr. I'd have to go with Bob on this one. Like he said, you can still use your flickr images on your own site, and you'll still have the fullsize original to print.

You don't need to use Flickr to show the photos if you don't want... just set up the account as usual, upload the photos, and use the links they give you to re-sized images to post them on your own site.
By the way, photoshop can re-size a whole folder of images pretty quickly, in bulk, or at least the Photoshop 7 that I have does.
