Didn't you see on the website that he has a Jets outfit? We are a bi-partisan football family. That Yankee bib crap has got to go, or be modified.

Young Thomas got his official weigh in Monday.
16 pounds, 10 ounces. 26" long. 50th percentile for everything.
Bob, I am curious to pick your brain. The topic: MMR shots and the suspect that they are "the cause" for autism. Your thoughts.

Im no Biochemist, but vaccinations for MMR have been pretty much status quo in our society for more then 30 years now. Given the huge numbers of people that received this vaccine, the fact that the numbers of people with Autism are much smaller in comparison, and the fact that none of the major medical/disease institutions have found any actual evidence to link the two things leads me to think there is nothing to be concerned about.
Obviously, its not my child and Im operating with a much different perspective, but I can tell you that if it WAS my child, I wouldnt hesitate to give him the vaccine. Its proven benefits far outweigh, in my mind, these unproven side effects.
Now that I've answered your question that was specifically not directed towards me, I'll go over there and sit quietly.

not that easy. the shot isn't the same as we received. science is now tracing what happens when children are exposed to mercury, which is in the shot, along with a whole slew of other "poisons."
i am looking for all sort of information before i put anything into him.

I think experts almost universally think the fear over kids shots is misguided. The original study that suggested a link between autism and MMR shots and/or the mercury/thimerosal that used to be in them (I'm pretty sure it's not any more) was really irresponsibly done and has been discredited. The much bigger fear, I think, is that tons of kids won't get shots and will get measles, mumps or rubella, which can be very bad. Mumps can be really painful. Measles and rubella could become huge public health problems if vaccination rates drop. We considered all this seriously, since Jenny's older brother is autistic, and we had both kids get all their shots.

I hear ya man, this is scary especially when your trying your best not to break your baby, but do not fear bro. The mercury compound, called Thimerosal, was removed from the MMR shot back in 2001, so I dont think you need to worry about it. Looks like the only vaccines still using Thimerosal are a few influenza shots. Heres the site where I got my info: www.cdc.gov/od/science/iso/concerns/thimerosal.htmJust for the record I never even knew about any potential health risks associated with the MMR till today, so ive been all over the web seeing what the deal is, but all I ever find are mostly people and organizations stating that there is no proven link and the shot does not cause autism. www.cdc.gov/od/science/iso/concerns/mmr_autism_factsheet.htmThe only people that actually believed this stuff were Andrew Wakefield and the 12 co-authors of the paper where he proposed the idea. Since then 10 of the 12 have retracted what they said.

When I was in the elementary school, subbing in a special ed classroom, I came into contact with a lot of either autism or aspurger's syndrome (a more higher functioning version of autism) and most of their parents say they noticed a difference in a few weeks after. Could that be parents dealing with a very difficult situation looking to place the "blame" on something external? Possible. Something is causing this disease, which used to affect 1 in 10,000 a few dozen years ago, now affects 1 in 100, say researchers. Jenny McCarthy's son has it and she was on Oprah a while back when they did a show on the topic. Scares the out of me.
